Southern Seminary students have an opportunity to attend Acton University for course credit, and scholarships are available.
||Acton University is a conference that attracts over 1,000 people from all over the world each year. It features a wide variety of lectures on theology, philosophy, ethics, liberty, economics, theology of work, forms of government, social justice, causes of poverty, poverty alleviation, and much more.
||This year Acton University will be held June 19-22 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
||Southern students who attend Acton University can register for the SBTS course 29477: Topics in Ethics: Work, Poverty, and Hunger. Sessions at Acton and reading for the course will focus on a Biblical understanding of work, as well as causes of poverty and possibilities for its alleviation.
||The cost for Acton University includes the conference registration fee, hotel for 4 nights, and all meals at the conference. The regular rate is $800 plus hotel, and the student rate is $550 plus hotel. However, we have arranged with the organizers to offer our students a rate of $550, including hotel.
||In addition to the reduced rate, The Commonweal Project is offering student scholarships between $100 and $500. Scholarships are limited. Students who are interested should register for the course and then contact Dr. Magnuson (email@example.com) or Zach Carter (firstname.lastname@example.org) to apply or for more information.
||In addition to offering our students free hotel space in nice conference hotels, the organizers have offered our students a chance to have a private meeting with conference speakers.
||Transportation to and from Grand Rapids may be arranged for students at no cost. Contact Dr. Magnuson or Zach Carter for more information.
||For information on Acton, including registration and schedule: http://university.acton.org/. Students should register for both the course and for the conference.
